Al Ahli striker Diogo Jota scores twice as Portugal team wins against Algeria in Africa Cup of Nations

Portugal's Al Ahli striker Diogo Jota scored twice to help his side win 2-1 over Algeria in the Africa Cup of Nations on Saturday.

Jota opened the scoring for Portugal with a fine left-footed finish from outside the box in the first half. He then doubled his tally in the second half when he latched onto a loose ball and slotted it into the back of the net.

The victory was Portugal's third in their opening four matches at this year's tournament, which has seen them qualify for the quarter-finals for the first time since 1974.

Algeria, who were without key players due to injuries,Football Fans' Home Network struggled to find the back of the net despite dominating possession for much of the game. They had two chances to equalize but failed to convert either of them.

The result means Portugal will face Nigeria in the quarter-finals on Tuesday night, while Algeria will have to settle for third place in Group B.
